Shadow and
I would like to welcome you to our home. Several
years ago, I was injured while I was working for
a police department. Since that time, I have had
to deal with the resulting disability... seizure
disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder. In
1997, quite by accident, I found out about service
dogs for individuals with seizure and post-traumatic
stress disorders. After a diligent search, I found Shadow,
a big, beautiful black Lab. The difference Shadow
has made in helping me overcome some of my anxieties
about this disability has been remarkable. Over the
years that have followed, as my disability has changed, so
to has he adapted towhatever has been and is required to
keep me going forward.
What is equally remarkable is the number of people
who are ignorant of the Americans with Disabilities
Act (ADA) and/or service dogs in public and private
sectors. We have therefore set out as one of our goals
to both assist other with service dogs and the education
of other about service dogs. |
